Beware Of Wearing Blue While Swimming In Carolina Waters
If you plan on swimming in the Carolinas don’t wear blue! With summer right around the corner, swimming season is almost here. The NY Post says before you buy your child’s new bathing suit for summer read this. A swim expert is warning about something you may not know. Nikki Scarnati, a certified infant swimming instructor, wants parents to know that blue bathing suits match the color of the water and that can be really dangerous.
The teacher from Tennessee recently shared a TikTok video showing her young daughter swimming in a pool, wearing a blue one-piece. While you can see the girl’s head bobbing on the pool’s surface, the shade of her swimsuit makes it nearly impossible to see her body underwater. Scarnati points out that could make kids too camouflage to rescue in an emergency.
“Look at how difficult it is to see her under the water,” the swim instructor explains in the clip. “And this is in calm water. This is not with a whole bunch of other kids playing and splashing around and having a good time.” Scarnati encourages parents not to buy blue bathing suits for this reason and to buy “bright ones instead.”
