Scarlett Johansson and Marvel Studios Working Together Despite Lawsuit
Now that Marvel Studios has settled their Black Widow lawsuit with Scarlett Johansson, Disney has reportedly already been in talks with the actress for additional projects.
In last week’s American Cinematheque Award celebrations where Johansson was the recipient, the actress was surrounded by her Avengers peers, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, attending the event in her honor. Marvel’s head honcho Kevin Feige revealed in a brief interview that the studio is looking forward to continuing their relationship with Johansson, despite the high-profile lawsuit.
Feige said of Johansson at the award celebration, “That’s what a smart producer does. She is a very, very smart producer.” He later confirmed a new project in development with the Black Widow star stating, “We are already working with Scarlett on another non-Black Widow-related top-secret Marvel Studios project with her as a producer. Scarlett is one of the most talented, versatile and beloved actors of our time. It has truly been a pleasure to work with someone of her caliber. From those epic training sessions preparing for the hallway fight in Iron Man 2, to the around-the-world press tour in Avengers: Endgame to partnering with you as a producer on Black Widow, working with you Scarlett has truly been one of the most memorable and rewarding collaborations of my career.”

In response to the Black Widow lawsuit, Johansson also spoke to The Hollywood Reporter claiming, “I feel mostly very fortunate that nobody will have to go through what I went through and that it’s made, I think, a positive impact in the industry and hopefully for artists and creatives’ lives and livelihood.”
Last month, Johansson and Disney settled their lawsuit with Johansson saying at the time, “I am happy to have resolved our differences with Disney. I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done together over the years and have greatly enjoyed my creative relationship with the team. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in years to come.”
The explosive suit, filed by the actress in July, claimed that her contract was breached when Black Widow was released on the Disney+ streaming service at the same time as its theatrical debut. Johansson said her agreement with Marvel Studios guaranteed an exclusive movie theaters release and her salary was based largely on box-office performance.
