Can A Threesome Ever Fix A Relationship?

People pull out all the stops to save relationships. Some even bring in some extra help. And we’re not talking about a couple’s therapist. We’re talking about a menage a trois.

A threesome is the most common sexual fantasy and while there are no stats of how many couples have given it a go to help prevent an ex from leaving them, the question is, could it work? According to the sexperts, the answer is maybe. It all comes down to the motivation behind the group sex act.

Sexologist Madalaine Munro says that “for some, monogamy doesn’t meet their needs, and therefore opening up the relationship can be a great solution.” If you’re both open to it, and you can agree on ground rules and expectations, it could be an enlightening experience. But Munro says that if there are “fundamental relational problems, such as trust, communication, or insecurities, then it is likely these will be exacerbated by a threesome.” Quite the gamble.
