Weird facts are always for me. It’s August 19th people and I’m ready to get weird with you. Just like the days before and the ones to come, the history is weird, a little scary and we’ve got a list of them for you to enjoy.

Knowing major past events is important to understand how we live life today. Seeing what happened in the past fascinates me. You might think I’m weird, but I find history interesting because of the weird and scary things that happen. Here are 5 of the weirdest and scariest facts for August 19th.

• Contaminated Pickles Kill Six People

  On August 19th, 2012 some pickles were deadly! At least six people died and another 100 people became sick after eating contaminated pickles in Japan. Wow! The government was blaming locally produced pickled Chinese cabbage that they believe was contaminated with E. Coli. Most of the people affected were elderly but one of the dead included a four-year-old girl.

  On August 19th, 2006 some Belgium prisoners escaped. Yes, you read that correctly. It was a jail break! A total of 28 prisoners escaped from the Dendermonde jail in Belgium. Six of the escapees were caught immediately, but the rest were able to scale the prison wall to escape.
