Seventeen Year Old From Cary, North Carolina Heads to the 2020 Olympic
Imagine being seventeen years old and making it to the Olympics. This is a true dream come true for this local Cary, North Carolina teen. Claire Curzan has been swimming since she was three years old and now she’s taking her skills to Tokyo.
Claire Curzan is from Cary, North Carolina, and attends Cardinal Gibbons High in Raleigh. Curzan is a star swimmer and owns the third-fastest time in history in the 100-meter butterfly. According to The News & Observer, her personal best in that event is 56.20, which she swam last November while winning the 100-meter fly at the U.S. Open in Greensboro.
Now after making a splash in her sole event, she will now swim the butterfly leg in the preliminary round of the 4×100 women’s medley relay. Should the 4×100 team win a medal, Curzan would receive one. Curzan is one of the youngest athletes set to compete in the 2020 Olympics. Let’s get that win!
