Rumors Flying Of Upcoming “Harry Potter” TV Series On HBO Max
Could it really be true?? Rumors are flying around that Warner Bros and HBO Max are in talks for a live-action “Harry Potter” TV project.
All conversations are in the very early stages. There aren’t any confirmed writers or talent yet, but I am personally hoping they are able to get some of the same names they’ve worked with in the past!
However, as of late, the “Harry Potter” series has been stirring up some controversy as the book series author J.K. Rowling received much backlash after tweeting a series of transphobic tweets in early 2020. Additionally, “Fantastic Beasts” actor Johnny Depp left the “Harry Potter” franchise after he lost a libel suit against a British newspaper that published allegations of domestic violence towards Depp from his now ex-wife, Amber Heard.
HBO Max seems to be wanting to get a leg-up on other streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+, who have all been pretty successful in their original content. In my personal opinion, I see a “Harry Potter” TV series doing very well so I think HBO Max has the right idea.
Don’t forget there are also three more movies scheduled to come out for the “Fantastic Beasts” series with the next one scheduled to premiere in 2022!
Who are some of your favorite characters you’d like to see the series focus on? I’d love to see a full version of Luna Lovegood’s story. Or maybe a futuristic where-are-they-now type of show with their kids! Where do you think the TV version of “Harry Potter” should start from?
