‘The Walking Dead’ To End In 2022, But It Won’t Die
Today, AMC Networks announced that The Walking Dead will end in 2022. But do “walkers” ever really die?
They don’t: the network also announced a number of spin-offs, including one staring fan favorites Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride).
First off: The Walking Dead still has 31 episodes to go. The show will end in late 2022. According to Entertainment Weekly, an expanded season 11 will feature 24 episodes, including the COVID-delayed Oct. 4 season 10 finale, as well as six season 10 bonus episodes that will air in early 2021.
Of course, the third Walking Dead series, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, is still set to debut on Oct. 4, and season 6 of Fear the Walking Dead premiers a week later).
The spin-off focused on Daryl and Carol will debut in 2023. And there’s another new series titled Tales of the Walking Dead, which is described as “an episodic anthology with individual episodes or arcs of episodes focused on new or existing characters, backstories or other stand-alone experiences.” That means characters who perished in The Walking Dead universe could come return for flashback episodes.
