Governor Roy Cooper Issues a Mandatory Stay-at-Home Order for North Carolina
Governor Roy Cooper issued a mandatory statewide Stay at Home order beginning Monday at 5pm. The order may go into but Cooper recommended anyone who is able begin starting now. The order will last 30 days.
It states that there should be no gatheringsof more than 10 people and that those people must stay 6 feet away from each other (social distancing). Essential services such as may continue, but should use extreme social distancing measures.
Cooper states that North Carolina has widespread transmission and community spread. According to science the best tool we have to combat the spread is staying apart.
Cooper thanked people who are already doing the right thing and says that he knows it will be difficult on the economy but unemployment benefits will go out next week to those who have filed due to coronvirus.
He stated “we have to act now in the safest started way while have the chance to save lives” and described the situation as life or death.
