This American Home Has Been Ruled “Legally” Haunted
This isn’t just a ghost story. This is an official ghost story! The United States is home to a handful of old houses. A lot of homes are north of 200 years old, and one place in particular stands out. This haunted house is definitely the most unique Fox News reports. A home in New York that dates back to the 1890s was legally declared haunted in 1991. The New York Supreme Court ruled the house is most likely haunted after a series of mysterious door slams and shaking beds.
The person who bought the 4,600-square-foot Victorian house in Nyack in 1989 sued the previous owner for not disclosing the poltergeists before the sale, which led to the NYSC ruling in favor of the buyer. The ghosts aren’t the only notable inhabitants of the home. Previous owners include singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, Jewish rapper Matisyahu, and director-screenwriter Adam Brooks.
I grew up in NJ. There’s some spooky history around those parts. My cousin lived in a haunted house for a bit. Lights would turn on and off, cabinets would open and close on their own, and his bed would shake. They put the old bed that had been in the house for years in the basement. That night, he and his wife were actually elevated out of their bed. Crazy ass ish!
I stayed there one night when I was 7 or 8 years old. I slept with the TV on. It felt like someone was watching me the whole time. Things were so creepy I went and slept on my cousin’s floor in his room like a dog! That home should’ve been legally declared haunted haha.
