Why “Never Going To Bed Angry” Could Be A Huge Mistake
One super common piece of relationship advice that’s been around for years is to “never go to bed angry.” But is this really realistic? No. In fact, according to YourTango, going to bed angry can be great for a relationship because when you wake up in the morning, you have a much clear perspective on everything… and when you’re in the heat of the moment, you don’t. That’s not the only reason, though. Here’s six reasons from sleep experts as to why you should go to bed angry.
It’s better for your mental and emotional health. When you don’t sleep, your brain will overact to situations or not react at all, which will send red flags for more relationship trouble the next day.
It’s better for your physical health. If you and your boo are regularly arguing all night instead of sleeping, it’ll add up and have an affect on you physical health. Lack of sleep can mimic the effects of drinking!
You can have great makeup sex. Chronic sleep deprivation can lower the sex drive hormones for both women and men, so if you want make-up sex, you better finish that argument in the AM and get some sleep.
You may wake up with a more positive outlook. If you want to solve a problem in a positive way, you need a refreshed outlook on the situation, which you’ll get from sleeping on it.
Sleep helps you stick to the central point and focus on the matter at hand. When you stay up late to fight, you’re more likely to go off track from the original argument and end up fighting about all different issues… because you’re too sleepy to remember your original point.
You may avoid doing or saying something you’ll regret. A lack of sleep can affect how we interpret events, making it hard to make sound judgements.
