Teen Entrepreneur Made $1.7M Reselling Goods During Pandemic
While the rest of us were baking bread and learning new hobbies during the pandemic, a teenager in New Jersey was becoming a boss entrepreneur. Max Hayden saw an opportunity in buying items that were going out-of-stock quickly and reselling them to those willing to pay steep prices. And business was good, he reportedly pulled in $1.7-million in revenue!
The 16-year-old had a booming online resale business from flipping hard to find items like video games, outdoor heaters and above-ground swimming pools. Even dumbbells and hair clippers became hot-sellers when gyms and hair salons were closed. Hayden was able to turn around and sell those things for about double the retail price, which was good for his bottom line.
The teen reportedly made $110-thousand in profits in 2020! And while he’s still in high school, he says he devotes 40 hours a week to his online business in addition to his studies. He’s also got two friends working for him, paying them $15 an hour to help with inquiries and packing up orders. Hayden expects to do even better this year since some products, like game consoles, are still hard to find.
