Starbucks has announced 6 major changes that will be coming to locations this year EatThis,NotThat! is reporting. There have already been newly developed menu items, new merchandise, green initiatives, and redesigned store plans and this list adds on to those changes.
Here’s 6 major changes coming to Starbucks and what to expect:
- New Cold Cups – Starbucks partnered with the Tryer Center, their innovation hub based in Seattle to come it with new designs for their tall, grande, venti, and trenta sizes of single-use cold drink cups. The new designs use 10 to 20% less plastic to save over 13.5 million pounds of plastic from landfills, according to the company’s website. In the future, Starbucks aims to make all of its consumer packaging reusable, recyclable, and compostable, and the new cups actually are cheaper to make than their predecessors.
- Redesigned Stores – Starbucks is in the process of redesigning stores according to the website that include new innovations that include power-operated doors, lower counters, updated point-of-sale setups and voice assist. The first city to get the new design will be Washington, D.C. and the company is hoping to open 640 more throughout 2024.
- Brand-New Summer Menu Items – the company recently unveiled new seasonal menu items that include:
- Summer-Berry Starbucks Refreshers Beverage
- Summer-Berry Lemonade Starbucks Refreshers Beverage
- Summer Skies Drink
- White Chocolate Macadamia Cream Cold Brew
- New Iced Coffee Blend
There are also new summer-themed snacks like Orange Cream Cake Pop and Pineapple Cream Cake and Starbucks is correcting supply-chain issues to make sure they can meet popular demand.
- Summer-Themed Merchandise – there’s a new Starbucks x Stanley Quencher Collab cup in an orange-yellow color that can hold 40 ounces as well as the Pastel Blue Vacuum Seal Cold Cup and Light Green Bling Cold Cup. They also are introducing collapsible water bottles, keychains, and tumblers but these items are only available for a limited time at participating stores.
- In-App Deals and Offers – back in May, the company unveiled an exciting list of in-app deals and offers that include personalized promotions for individual members every Monday with more June deals coming soon.
- “Greener” Stores – Starbucks currently has 66,091 Certified Greener Stores and is working hard to make stores more environmentally friendly. Their goal is to have 10,000 certified green stores by 2025 and plans to reduce carbon emissions, water usage, and landfill waste by 50% by 2023. Michael Kobori, Starbucks’ chief sustainability officer said “Starbucks’ environmental promise comes to life through our baristas’ daily actions, which help define a Greener Store, our innovative shift toward reusable cups, and our partnership with coffee farmers on sustainable growing practices.”
