How Many People Are Hooking Up At Music Festivals
Now that the weather is really heating up and the days are growing longer, it’s that time of year again – music festival season! While attendees are there to hear their favorite artists perform, the excitement in the air and the buzz of the crowd has led to many festival flings according to Morningstar. So, how many people are hooking up at them? A new survey has the answers.
Well, we got a phone call on today’s show that seemingly confirmed that this is happening! The caller said she had recently worked at a festival where she saw people hooking up in the porta potties. Yikes! I hardly want to pee in there, let alone more furniture!
LELO asked more than 14-hundred adults about their thoughts and experience with hooking up at music festivals and found:
- Almost half of all respondents (46%) admit to hooking up at one of these events, while 54% say they haven’t.
- But where are these intimate escapades going down? For 54%, it’s in a tent, which at least gives them a bit of privacy.
- The next most popular spot is in a car, where 30% have enjoyed a festival rendezvous.
- But some people are all about the spontaneity and thrill of public displays of affection, including the 16% who’ve gotten frisky in a crowded area.
- There really may be something in the air for some attendees, as half of respondents say the festival atmosphere and sense of freedom is what gets them in the mood.
- For 21%, it’s the shared interest in music and dancing that ignites sparks of attraction.
- Nearly nine in 10 (88%) of those surveyed think the energy and ambiance of music festivals encourages people to express their sexual desires openly.
- But 41% believe the type of music and the festival’s overall vibe can affect the prevalence of hookup culture.
- Sometimes, attendees want to hookup, but challenges get in the way. The biggest one is privacy issues (44%) that make it hard to engage in sexual activities, followed by security concerns (22%), logistical difficulties (17%) and even weather conditions (17%).
- As for what led to their hookups at a music festival, 43% say the environment played a part, 42% were motivated by a connection to someone at the festival, 32% just did it spontaneously and 26% were turned on by the intoxicating atmosphere.
