Nationwide Poll Says 2 North Carolina Cities Are Best Cities To Drive In
Think drivers are bad where you live? Forbes Advisor has just come out with a report on the worst U.S. cities to drive in. The good news is the new poll says 2 North Carolina cities are the best cities to drive in, not the worst! Before we get to the worst cities, let’s praise ourselves as great drivers here in North Carolina. Charlotte and Raliegh both topped the list as the “Best Cities to Drive in.” Wooo-hooo! Way to go! I feel personally responsible for us being on top of the best cities list hahaha!
Now the bad news…No matter where you are, there are bound to be people behind the wheel who seem like they shouldn’t be, and then traffic during rush hour and road conditions can make it even worse. But some places seem to have it worse than others and a new report reveals where they are.
- To come up with their list, they compared the 47 most populated cities in the country on 15 metrics in four main areas: driving experience, safety, cost of car ownership and access to car maintenance.
- According to the research, Oakland, California, is the worst city to drive in, because of the high number of fatal car accidents, high gas prices and a long average commute time. Oakland is second worst overall for car ownership cost and they have the sixth highest gas prices at an average of $4.52 per gallon for regular.
- Boston, 15th overall, is the worst for driving experience, while Albuquerque, 31st overall, is worst for driver safety.
- New York City, sixth overall, is the most expensive city to own a car, and drivers in Memphis, Tennessee, 25th overall, have the worst access to car maintenance.
