North Carolina Students Angry After Mirrors Taken Out Of Bathrooms
Nothing to see here…Middle school students in North Carolina have had the mirrors in their bathrooms taken as they’ve become a huge distraction. According to the NY Post the Alamance-Burlington School System has announced that Southern Alamance Middle School has taken to removing mirrors to cut down on kids spending too much time in the bathroom filming TikTok videos.
As an almost 40-year-old woman now, I think back on how crucial looks were in middle school. Maybe this is a good thing for kids to understand that we don’t need to invest THAT much in the clothes people wear or the make-up they put on their faces. However, I’m not sure this is going to fix the problem. If TikTok is the root here, the kids are just gonna find somewhere else to do the filming. Now, hopefully, that is after school, but only time will tell.
But wait! There’s more:
Some students were caught skipping class and going to the bathroom up to nine times a day to make videos. How does the school know? Apparently, the mirrors, are heavily featured in the videos students are making. But wait – there’s more! The district is also requiring digital hall passes so they can track how much time students are spending outside of the classroom.
