A Popular Charlotte Bar Is Now A Step Closer To Being Torn Down
It’s always sad to see when places like bars or restaurants that have been around for a while close. That’s the case with a popular Charlotte bar which is a step closer to being torn down. This comes after the city council rezoned the location for new development. The council greenlit a developer’s request to build new construction on the site of the Two Buck Saloon in Plaza Midwood.
Two Buck Salon does have a second location on Albemarle Road. This location is on Hawthorne Road. The developer would tear down the Saloon for a mixed-use project. There is no word on how long Two Buck Saloon would stay open, or how the project could proceed without tearing down the Saloon.
The Two Buck Saloon is in Charlotte’s Belmont neighborhood in Plaza. When I first moved to Charlotte in 2012 I found out it’s home to a drink called fittingly the “buckshot.” The official Saloon drink is a mixture of a PBR draft beer and a shot of Jim Beam. It grew hair on my chest after drinking it haha!
The place has kind of a country/rock bar vibe. There’s pool, video games, TV’s and an outside area. It’s a real old school bar vibe. But, like may older places in Charlotte to make room for new construction it’s “out with the old and in with the new!”
The 2nd area location opened in October of 2023. I haven’t been yet, but the pictures look similar to the original joint. If the bar is torn down, gone are my memories of being in Charlotte my first week. It truly holds a nostalgic place in my heart!
