North Carolina Makes 2024’s ‘Best College Towns And Cities’ List
When it comes to the best college towns and cities, you should already know that one North Carolina city is going to make this list. Honestly, I’m not surprised that North Carolina made the list but I am surprised that only one town/city made the list.
There’s a lot to consider for high school seniors deciding where to go to college, beyond the campus and programs offered at the school. The city they’ll call home for four years is also important and new research may help prospective students narrow down their options.

- They compared over 400 U.S. cities of varying sizes on 31 key indicators of academic, social and economic opportunities for students.
- Cities were rated on everything from the cost of living and the crime rate to the quality of higher education.
- Topping the list for the third consecutive year is Austin, Texas, followed by Ann Arbor, Michigan, once again.
