The Best Waffles in North Carolina Is A Short Drive From Charlotte
“Hey Alexa, where can I find the best waffles in North Carolina?”
Waffles are one of those food items that just never miss. I’ve never regretted ordering waffles while out. Each restaurant does waffles differently. Some offer the traditional breakfast dish, while others put the juiciest piece of chicken on top. I’ve also recently seen waffle donuts, which 10 out of 10 recommend.
LoveFood compiled a list using reviews, awards and accolades, and first-hand experience to curate a list of the best waffle restaurants in each state.
North Carolina’s Best Waffles
They have various locations but as someone who grew up in Raleigh, I believe Durham is the original location. This was always a “must-try” place. I remember always taking someone there if they were visiting from out of town. Lovefood says, “For chicken and waffles that will blow you away, Dame’s is the place. With locations in Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, and Greensboro, the mini chain is loved for the fact you can customize your dish to your exact liking, choosing from a list of waffle types, flavored butters, toppings, drizzles, and sides. Customers say every element of the dish is seasoned and cooked to perfection.”
South Carolina’s Best Waffles
You know we can’t talk about one Carolina without mentioning the other and Johnny D’s Waffles in Myrtle Beach won for South Carolina. LoveFood says, “Family-run Johnny D’s Waffles specializes in waffles and takes on eggs Benedict, and customers say you’ll be blown away by the food and service. The joint is famous for its red velvet waffle, drizzled with cream cheese icing, and topped with butter and powdered sugar. Other customer favorites include the chicken and waffles, with breaded chicken tenders and cinnamon sugar. It has two other restaurants, in North Myrtle Beach and Surfside Beach.”
