Chic Fil A Announces Brand New Charlotte Location
Rejoice, chicken lovers! Chic Fil A announced a brand new Charlotte location opening at the end of the year! The popular fast-food restaurant chain announced its new location will be in Wendover Plaza. It’s officially located off of North Wendover road and Grier Heights.
Chic Fil A has over 50 locations in Charlotte. Way more than Bojangles or Popeyes by the way.
Chic Fil A has been busy in the Charlotte area. They tore down a store in Mathews on Independence Boulevard and completely rebuilt it. They did the same basically in Wesley Chapel. The restaurants are so busy during high peak hours, that many have had to rebuild to help traffic flow.
Chick-fil-A was founded by S. Truett Cathy, who opened the first restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia, in 1946. Initially called the “Dwarf Grill,” it featured a small, very simple menu. In 1961, Cathy created the original Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich by placing a boneless, seasoned chicken breast in a buttered bun with pickles. The rest became history!
The success of that chicken sandwich led to the rebranding of the restaurant as Chick-fil-A in 1967. According to Wikipedia the name “Chick-fil-A” reflects the chain’s focus on chicken, with the “fil-A” part referencing the “A” grade quality of their chicken. One thing about Chick-fil-A that’s kind of controversial, is its policy of being closed on Sundays. Cathy, is a conservative Southern Baptist. A long time ago he made this decision as a way to allow employees to have a day of rest and worship. This policy is still upheld today and leads to lots of customers like me complaining! They also have been in the news for helping community events. Also, they donate to many anti-LBGTQ organizations and stand by that commitment.
