Woman From South Carolina Reunited With Wedding Ring 48 Years After It’s Lost
After nearly five decades, a woman from South Carolina was reunited with her lost wedding ring. Skyla Carmona, an Army wife who now lives in Nashville, has finally been reunited with her wedding ring. The ring was initially given to her while she lived in York, South Carolina. Unfortunately she lost the wedding ring while at Fort Devens Army base in Massachusetts in 1975. Skyla and her husband Phil Carmona, who have been married for almost 50 years, lost the ring during a disagreement early in their marriage. Despite having searched for the ring several times over the years, it remained lost until now.
Recently, Skyla reached out to a Facebook group called Metal Detecting Massachusetts, and a man named Ben. Ben along with a team of volunteers, offered to search for the ring. Using a map drawn by Phil, they located the ring buried about 30 yards from the tree line, under four inches of dirt and brush. Amazingly, the ring matched the patterns from Phil’s sketch. Inside Edition reports as you can imagine Skyla was overjoyed by the discovery.
The Carmonas made the trip to Massachusetts to recover the ring, but Skyla didn’t put the ring back on yet. On February 2nd of next year, the Carmonas plan to celebrate their 50th anniversary. Themselves, along with their eight children, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild will be watching. It’s then that the ring will go back on Skyla’s finger, just like it did the very first time in York, half a century ago.
How come when I use my son’s metal detector we don’t find anything?
My neighbor lost her ring in the front yard this summer. She knew my son had the metal detector so she asked for help. We knew exactly the area where it was lost but the detector didn’t pick it up. It picked up an old roofing nail hahaha. Meanwhile, this woman loses her ring in 1975 (when I was born) and they find it?
