Will Charlotte Finally Get A Snowy Winter? The Farmers Almanac Says “Yes”
Ok Charlotte snow lovers, you’ve been patiently waiting for snow the past few winters. The El Nino and La Nina effects didn’t help us very much say experts. So how about this year? Will Charlotte finally get a snowy winter? The ever trusty Farmers Almanac thinks so! They say Charlotte could get a snowy winter this year!
Snowfall amounts have been on the downturn in recent winters here in the Queen City. But a change could be in the air. Meteorologists are predicting a strong El Nino this winter. That means more of a stormy pattern for us. In the south, it’s important to have moisture and cold at the same time for snow to fall. This year with El Nino we’ll have plenty of chances for good storms. That’s the good news for snow lovers.
According to the Farmers Almanac, Winter temperatures will be above normal, as will precipitation and snowfall. The coldest periods will come in late December and early and mid-February. This could bring the best chances for snow, in January and mid-February.
Looking forward to the rest of 2024…April and May will be warmer and wetter than normal. Summer temperatures will be cooler than normal, with the hottest periods in late June, early July, and late July into mid-August. (what else is new?) Rainfall will be above normal in the east and below normal in the west. Watch for a hurricane in late August. September and October will be slightly cooler than normal, with normal precipitation.
