Ancestry Site Leads Three Siblings To Reunite After 65 Years
The power of technology and ancestry research has brought together three siblings who were separated for over six decades. The three siblings, who did not know of each other’s existence until recently, were able to connect through an ancestry website.
According to ABC ACTION NEWS, earlier this year, Raymond Tate was using a genealogy website when he hit on a possible DNA match. Tate’s niece, Mary Butler, had been searching for information about her family’s heritage because her mom was adopted. That match led to Tate being reunited with Lois Rodgers, a sister he never even knew he had.
Then earlier this week, their family got a little bit bigger when Tate and Rodgers finally got to meet another of their siblings, their sister Bobbie Gambrell. The family story is that Tate, Gambrell, Rodgers, and other siblings were separated in the 1960s, with some entering the foster care system.
Tate was overjoyed to finally get to meet another of his long lost siblings. “You know I’ve been looking for many, many years for my siblings and my family,” he says, adding, “This is a dream come true.” Tate, Rodgers, and Gambrell are hoping that they can track down more of their siblings, but for now they’re enjoying getting to know the ones they have.
The reunion was an emotional one as the siblings were able to share stories of their lives and make up for the lost time. The siblings expressed their gratitude towards the ancestry site, which helped them reunite after 65 years of separation. This story is a testament to the power of technology and the human spirit, which can overcome even the greatest of obstacles.
