A diver has made such a strong friendship with a freshwater smallmouth bass, that the scaley swimmer now comes when the man calls. Rex Colubra recalls going on a dive in 2021 where he “met” a special buddy whom he nicknamed Elvis. Colubra recalls, “I was checking out a new spot and all these fish were coming up to me.” He added, “I noticed one was sticking closer than the rest. He wasn’t scared even when I got out. It stuck close to the surface in the shallows.”
Colubra according to the NY Post said he went back to the same spot a few weeks later. That's when he saw Elvis right there waiting for him. The diver says he makes it a special point to go back to the same undisclosed lake every year. He looks forward to the reunion and even claims to have a special signal so Elvis comes when he's called. Colubra just hopes that he gets more years with his pal, saying, “I would be sad if he had been caught. He’s my friend.”
