Father Of The Year: Dad Scores 2nd Job To Spend More Time With Daughter
A North Carolina dad is living the phrase “teamwork makes the dream work.” He’s taking a second job in order to spend more time with his teenage daughter. James Culp, a retired Marine, is the director of a child development center on the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, but he eagerly stepped into a new role at the bakery and deli counter at a grocery store where his 19-year-old daughter, Astyn works.
The father-daughter duo haven’t been on the job at the grocery store together long, but he was a stay-at-home dad for his little girl, and they were inseparable. Astyn has worked for Food Lion for more than a year-and-a-half and had been telling her dad about her struggles with coworkers not showing up for shifts or doing their share of the work, which made it harder for her and the rest of the team. So James decided to ease her stress and took a job working with her, but she’s actually his boss according to Fox News.
“As long as they’ll have me, and I can work the same shift as Astyn … and help her and make her life easier, I’ll be there,” James says. Astyn has a new appreciation for her father, explaining, “Being able to work with him and see him every day is just something I’m really grateful for.”
