Where Can You Find a New Toilet Seat to Monitor Heart Health
Here’s the item you didn’t know you needed! A new toilet seat that monitors your heart health! The Food and Drug Administration is signing off this thing haha. It’s a special toilet that can measure oxygen saturation and heart rate. It works in adults who are 22 and older and who weigh from 90 to 350 pounds. After studying this special potty, results show the seat measured vitals like blood pressure and blood oxygenation similar to that of hospital-grade equipment.
I love this idea! We guys enjoy sitting on the potty, so what better to gage our health? EMPR saysthe FDA has cleared “Casana’s Heart Seat.”
It uses sensors embedded in the toilet seat. The seat is then able to measure these vital signs and send the data automatically to what’s called the Casana Cloud. From there, a healthcare provider is able to view the data from all 3 sensors: a ballistocardiogram (which measures the mechanical activity of the heart), an electrocardiogram (which measures the electrical activity of the heart), and a photoplethysmogram (which detects blood volume changes).
It showed that it was able to consistently measure blood pressure, stroke volume, and blood oxygenation. Much like the machines in a hospital. The Company plans to conduct more testing. It will then file an application with the FDA to include additional clinical measurements, such as blood pressure monitoring, this year.
So, if the thought of sitting on a home throne like this gets your blood pumping, rest assured that The Heart Seat is hoping to launch by the end of this year.
