Huge Clear Lagoon And Hotel In Huntersville Not So Fast Residence Say
Could a huge 12-acre crystal clear lagoon and a hotel pop up in Huntersville? Not so fast residence say! But Jake Palillo the developer with that big dream, held a public meeting Wednesday evening. The agenda was to hear from the community about his proposed $800 million dollar mixed-use development project in Huntersville.
The plans at this point call for a 200-room luxury hotel with a conference center. It also includes 250 custom single-family homes, luxury apartments, townhomes, and condos.
A tropical-style lagoon would be the “crown jewel” of the private-membership Lagoona Bay Beach Club within the massive development. https://t.co/EfQH3H6Xvj

The jewel to the whole development would be the private “Lagoona Bay Club” which would bring a 10-acre crystal clear freshwater lagoon. The proposed project would be near Interstate 77, partially along Sam Furr Road.
A resident named Violet Clark went door to door and rounded up nearly 2,000 signatures on an online petition. Some locals are against the project. Mentioning it would clog up roads and be the wrong fit for Huntersville.
WBTV quoted her as saying “It’s already really bad, it takes me 5-10 minutes to get out of my neighborhood now.”
“They don’t know anything about the project,” retorted Palillo.
“If I was going to build a gold mine in the middle of the town, there would be some people who would say I don’t want that, I don’t need the gold, it will be the traffic.”
The Crystal Lagoon would be the first in the Charlotte area. But according to the website, there are at least 1,000 different developments underway worldwide.
The developer says he hopes Huntersville residents keep an open mind. The fate of the project will be decided in July when the final votes are tallied.
Sounds cool to me! Wish it was Waxhaw and not Huntersville! Ya’ll already have a lake!
