Dating Coach Explains Why Your Connection Isn’t Moving Off Dating Apps
If you’re wondering why your Tinder/Hinge/Bumble/Whatever match hasn’t moved off the app yet, a dating coach may have the solution for you. According to CNBC there is a recent Hinge survey shows that even though 62% of users are ready to go on a date with someone after three days, only 34% actually plan a date during that time. Psychologist and clinical director of Growing Self Counseling & Coaching in Denver, Lisa Marie Bobby, isn’t surprised by this.
“Many people are not dating with a lot of thought or intention. They don’t have a strategy. They sign up for an app and their default is to not think about it that much and text people,” she explains. I think this is my concern with dating apps. I am married, but if that ever went sideways I’m not sure the apps would be the place for me. I think it’s easy for people to tell themselves that they are “dating” when they are really just looking for a hookup!
Lisa also says that if you’re in this totally online back-and-forth and want to take it IRL, you should take the reins yourself. “Be empowered to initiate,” she stresses. Great advice, that way if you get weird vibes you can put an end to things.
