Bride’s Confetti Hack Fails Terribly
Weddings can be incredibly expensive, so brides often look for ways to cut down on costs and stay under budget. But just because something can save you a few bucks doesn’t mean it’s a good idea and one bride learned this the hard way with her own DIY hack that went terribly wrong.
According to Yahoo Australia, instead of having guests toss rose petals, rice or birdseed at the newlyweds as they exit the ceremony, one woman decided to try something budget-friendly. In a Facebook wedding-shaming group, her photographer shares that she had the “bizarre” idea to use instant mashed potato flakes as confetti to save some money. What she didn’t consider? That those dehydrated flakes would turn into a mashed potato mess when they came into contact with sweat, spilled drinks and humidity.
So they ended up with “mashed potatoes on the ground, mashed potatoes in their hair, and mashed potatoes inside their clothing,” according to the photographer. Fortunately, they didn’t let that stop them from celebrating and just continued the party. Commenters were equally shocked and entertained by the bride’s surprising choice and some write that they wish they could have been guests at the “mashed potato wedding.”
