You Can Renew Your North Carolina License At A Kiosk Soon
How much do we all hate being at the DMV waiting to renew or get or licence? It’s not the best or fastest experience for most of us. Soon however the people of North Carolina will be able to renew driver licenses at a kiosk. The NC DMV plans to have self-service kiosks in places, like your local stores. They also announced they’ll limit appointment scheduling services online. The DMV will increase office hours, and implement new technology to help speed up our experiences.
DMV locations across the state will have earlier weekday hours, and new Saturday walk in hours. It looks like DMV is pulling back on the online appointments that became popular during the pandemic.
“We’ve heard from the public that they want more walk-in availability, so that’s what we’re aiming to deliver,” said DMV Commissioner Wayne Goodwin. @NCDOT @NCdotGov /2 pic.twitter.com/NQiRIIXKwq

State officials say self-service kiosks will be tested soon at places like grocery stores and pharmacies. Customers can use those for driver and services, such as driver license and vehicle registration renewal. The NC DMV expects to have 20 kiosks across the state by the end of summer.
No word where they’ll be in the Charlotte area.
WCNC reports Hours at select spots will also expand for the peak summer season. Saturday hours locations, include Charlotte-University City, Charlotte South, Huntersville, Monroe, and Morganton offices. Those locations will open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays from June 3 to Aug. 26.
