Roku And DoorDash Want You To Order Food Through Your TV
The last thing you want to do when you’re glued to the TV watching the latest episode of “The Last of Us” is get up and cook dinner. According to The Takeout, Roku and DoorDash know this and that’s why they’re teaming up to give you a way to order food through your TV without leaving the comfort of your couch.
The streaming service and the food delivery service are partnering for “shoppable ads” that will let viewers place an order from their TV screen while watching a show. Here’s what we know:
- The ads will appear on the Roku home page as well as during programming.
- To order, viewers can scan a QR code on the screen or enter their phone number, which sends a link that takes them to a DoorDash ordering page.
- Customers will need a DoorDash account to place an order.
- Wendy’s is the first restaurant to buy the ads, which start Tuesday (February 14th) and run through March 12th.
- The Wendy’s ads will sweeten the deal with promos, like $5 off orders of $15 or more.
- Roku is enticing customers to use the service by giving them six months of access to DashPass, a tier of DoorDash membership that eliminates delivery fees from eligible restaurants. This normally costs $9.99 a month, so they’re giving you that $60 free.
