Black Eyed Peas Sue Toy Company For Unicorn That Plays “My Poops”
The Black Eyed Peas are suing a toy company for their unicorn that plays “My Poops.” The Peas are taking on a pooping unicorn reports Reuters! Haha. Music publisher BMG Rights Management has sued toymaker MGA Entertainment Inc. Their beef is with a dancing unicorn doll they make. It’s called “Poopsie Slime Surprise.” It plays a song called “My Poops.” MGA says it is way too close to the song “My Humps.”
BMG said the pony has made the toy company tens of millions of dollars. BMG is asking for “at least $10 million in damages.” MGA pushed it. They also created a music video to help advertise the line and it sounds very close to the BEP’s 2005 hit.
Who are these two companies? BMG claims to own three quarters of the composition copyright in “My Humps.” The song went double platinum in the US. Meanwhile, MGA is best known for its Bratz line of dolls.
An animated ad for Poopsie Slime Surprise, a slime-pooping unicorn, includes a song, "My Poops," which BMG Rights Management argues is an infringement on the Black Eyed Peas' 2005 hit single, "My Humps." https://t.co/FKzW1CXJ2E
