Strangers Become Friends Thanks To Traveling Wedding Dress
Deciding on a wedding dress can be challenging, and for Simone Crouch, it was a struggle. The South Africa native tried on many dresses, but none of them were right and none made her feel good. But according to Good Morning America, while she was scrolling Instagram one day, she spotted her dream gown. Unfortunately, she says, “I tried to get the dress and it didn’t work.”
After she was unable to order the floor-length lace dress, Simone saw photos of another bride, Emily Heath, wearing the exact dress at her own wedding three years before. Simone reached out to Emily and was thrilled to hear back from her, so she asked if she could buy the dress. Emily, who lives in California, declined to sell it, but she did agree to lend it to Simone for her big day. She shipped the gown to the U.K., where Simone’s mom received it and brought it to Johannesburg for her daughter’s wedding.
The bride-to-be was so delighted that the dress fit like a glove, she was moved to tears. Simone even invited Emily to her wedding last month and she graciously accepted. Thanks to the sisterhood of the traveling dress, these strangers half a world apart have bonded and become friends. Emily recently shared the epic story of her wedding dress on TikTok, where it’s had 4-million views. The women say they’re overwhelmed by the love and support they’ve gotten from people online and Emily adds, “I think the story of this is the kindness of two people and how it’s brought along a friendship.”
