BFFs Move In Together After Divorces Become “Platonic Life Partners”
I could seriously do this with my friend Elena, if anything ever happened between me and Dallas.
According to Metro, a pair of women in Florida who became friends had no idea how valuable their relationship would become. Patty Kulak, 27, and Marissa Baker, 30, met at Marissa’s birthday party in 2021, just one day after Patty and her husband decided to get a divorce. Marissa asked her why she was down and when Patty opened up, Marissa welcomed her with open arms.
Then, six months later, they switched roles as Marissa found herself going through her second divorce. “Marissa checked in with me every day for six months and then that six-month mark hit and she asked if I was okay and I said ‘yes’ and she said ‘well, I am not,’” Patty recalls. Marissa needed a place to live and moved in with Patty and the pair have been inseparable ever since.
The women joke that they’re the husbands they never got to have and even call themselves “platonic life partners.” Marissa says they’ve never had a fight, communicate well and accept each other fully for who they are. “If I could pick my husband, It would be like ‘I want Patty in a male form,’” she explains. Patty shares that sentiment, adding, “Marissa is exactly who I needed and she came into my life when I needed her.” These two have figured out that they found their true soulmate in a friend, not a romance, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
