It's about that time of year when the question gets posed once again. What did Kevin McAlister's parents do to afford the iconic home alone house? While we may never know the answer to that question, it's no surprise with a home so big that it was targeted by robbers. So in anticipation of my yearly viewing of this classic film, I began to wonder. How much is the Home Alone house worth today? So I consulted Zillow to answer this burning question.

While not currently on the market Zillow estimates that the iconic McAlister family home better known as the Home Alone house is worth $2,178,800. But I mean we all knew that home was pricey and the family was loaded. How else could they afford to take an entire extended family to Paris? The home has 6 bedrooms and baths and is 5,398 square feet. The home last sold in 2012 for $1,585,000. And one can assume the damage caused by the Wet Bandits and Kevin has since fully been repaired.

It's located in Winnetka, IL a suburb of Chicago. But if you've seen the movie you knew that! I also paid a visit earlier this fall to the Plaza Hotel in NYC where Kevin stay's on his second holiday alone. I have to say I was shocked at how small that lobby was. The hotel was spectacular, however (and even in 90s money I can't imagine what that stay would have cost). (Spoiler alert if you live under a rock). Of course, we know they didn't end up having to pay it!
