There's a new study out and I love it haha! The most regretted college majors! College application season is in full swing. This may have some families questioning whether a four-year degree is worth it these days. There are some companies who are dropping degree requirements, earning a degree is almost always worthwhile. This is according to “The College Payoff,” a report from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce. It says bachelor’s degree holders typically earn 84% more than those with just a high school diploma.

A new survey from job site ZipRecruiter looked at 15-hundred college grads who are looking for a job. The study finds that 44% of them actually regret their field of study. Based on their research, these are the most-regretted college majors. Plus, the percentage of graduates who would choose a different major if they could.

  1. Journalism 87%
  2. Sociology 72%
  3. Liberal Arts/General Studies 72%
  4. Communications 64%
  5. Education 61%
  6. Marketing Management & Research 60%
  7. Medical/Clinical Assisting 58%
  8. Political Science/Government 56%
  9. Biology 52%
  10. English Language/Literature 52%

Of course, not all grads regret their majors. Those entering the workforce with good career prospects and high starting salaries are the most satisfied with their field of study. This according to Zip Recruiter. Computer science majors,with an average starting salary of nearly $100-thousand, are the happiest overall, the job site reports. Their research shows the least regretted college majors are:

  2. Criminology
  3. Engineering
  4. Nursing
  5. Health
  6. Business Administration & Management
  7. Finance
  8. Psychology
  9. Construction Trades
  10. Human Resource Management
