Balenciaga’s New Purse Is An $1800 Lay’s Chips Bag
Do you remember Balenciaga’s viral trash bag that sells for more than $17-hundred and looks exactly like a bag you stick inside a trash can or collect yard leaves in? Well, according to Metro, the Spanish fashion brand has found a way to top that with its latest bag design. The luxury designer’s latest creation may look a little familiar … because it’s made to look like a bag of Lay’s potato chips.
The collab with Lay’s made its debut during Balenciaga’s spring/summer 2023 fashion show at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month, where models strutted down the runway holding the Frito-Lay handbags. Fashion commentator Diet Prada posted on their Instagram account, “How do you follow up a viral fashion accessory like @balenciaga’s trash bag bag? How about another that looks like actual trash?” And that’s exactly what these bags are made to look like.
But unlike the $4 variety that has real chips inside, these leather clutches are made to look like the snack’s iconic packaging, come with a zipper closure and are reportedly retailing for $18-hundred. The Balenciaga bags won’t be available until next summer, but they will come in four flavors that we know of, including the original, flamin’ hot, limon and salt and vinegar, so you can get one to match every outfit.
