Painting From 1860 Of Woman “Holding iPhone” Baffles the Internet
Have you seen this? A painting from 1860 of a woman holding an iPhone baffles the Internet! The 162-year-old painting has the Internet incredibly confused. When you look at “The Expected One” a painting by Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller. You see a woman in the center strolling through the scenic landscape. She’s heading towards a man waiting ahead in the bushes with a pink flower in his hand.
But the detail of the painting that has folks baffled is what the young lady is holding in her hands. At a quick glance, it seems like she’s looking down and scrolling through her smartphone as she walks. Of course, that wouldn’t be possible. The painting was finished in 1860 and the iPhone didn’t come out until 2007 duh haha.
Take a look at the painting from the NY Post. What do you think it is? I think it’s clearly Josephie Jobs. The great great great grandmother of Apple founder and former CEO Steve Jobs! Haha.
Fortunately, art critics clear things up with a simple explanation: The woman is reading a prayer book, not checking out her Instagram feed.“The girl in this Waldmüller painting is not playing with her new iPhone X, but is off to church holding a little prayer book in her hands,” explains Gerald Weinpolter, CEO of Art Agency Weinpolter.
So, it’s not a painting from 1860 of a woman holding an iPhone! I’d rather believe it is, and she’s texting her friend…”there’s a creepy guy waiting for me in the woods, send help!” Hahaha.
The way she’s the prayer book, and the size of it looks exactly how the modern person holds their iPhone. It’s really funny to me.
