Bride Carries On With Wedding After Groom Stands Her Up
A bride in the U.K. who was left at the altar didn’t let that stop her from having the wedding of her dreams. According to Tyla, Kayley Stead was all set to marry her partner of nearly four years … right up until he was a no-show on their wedding day. She didn’t know that he wasn’t coming until her hair and makeup were almost done, after spending the entire morning getting ready for their walk down the aisle.
It seems a groomsman told the bridal party, who hid it from Kayley until they could decide the best way to tell her, and then she finally spoke to the groom’s dad, who broke the bad news. “I saw the groom at around 4pm on the day before the wedding, and I haven’t heard from him since,” the bride says. “We’ve tried to reach out to him, but I’ve had no response from him, no reason why.” But instead of calling off the celebration, the 27-year-old went ahead with her wedding, minus the groom.
“I didn’t want to remember the day as complete sadness,” Kayley explains. So when the videographer joked that they should carry on, since the money had been spent and the guests were all coming, Kayley was down with that plan. Her sister redid her makeup that had come off as she sobbed, and then the bride went ahead with her wedding entrance, which she made to Lizzo’s, “Good as Hell.” She also enjoyed the meal, speeches, posed for professional photos without the groom, punched the top tier off the wedding cake, and danced her first dance with her dad, brothers, and the groomsmen, who she says she wanted to thank for staying because they “stood by me the whole day.”
