Batgirl Was So Bad the Film Has Gone Missing
“Batgirl” was so bad the film has gone missing according to insider reports.
Earlier this month, Warner Brothers surprised the industry – and fans – by scrapping the “Batgirl” movie while it was nearly completed. The price tag? A cool $90M. Actress Leslie Grace was slated to star as the female “caped crusader.”
No one was as shocked as co-directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah according to Variety. Once they’d gotten the news the movie was killed, they got a second shock – Fallah went on the server to retrieve the footage they had shot…only to find, “Everything was gone.”
According to industry reports, the movie was bad WB was willing to blow 90 million rather than release the flick.
Where it went, the two have no idea and no one is saying. El Arbi and Fallah hope the movie will eventually be seen, similar to the so-called “Snyder Cut” of “Justice League”. However, the two realize there’s a LOT of work to be done before that could happen. “It cannot be released in its current state,” El Arbi says. “There’s no VFX…there’s still some scenes to shoot.”
While the duo was crushed by Warner’s termination of the project. They did get some much-appreciated support by some Hollywood heavyweights. The likes of James Gunn and Edgar Wright, which proves that while the movie itself wasn’t seen, their efforts were.
