“Mr. Happy Face” Wins World’s Ugliest Dog Competition
A Chinese Crested – Chihuahua mix named Mr. Happy Face is the winner of the 2022 World’s Ugliest Dog Contest in Petaluma, California. The New York Post reports the 17-year-old dog’s win put $1,500 in the pocket of his owner, Janeda Banelly, along with an appearance on the “Today” show.
Banelly adopted Mr. Happy Face from a shelter last year, and Debra Mathy, one of the competition’s judges, told the “New York Times” “It was clear and obvious that Mr. Happy Face deserved to be champion.” The contest was held for the first time since 2019.
