Her family organized a funeral for her that evening.
As her body lay on top of her funeral pyre, the elephant came walking up again. It took her body down off the pyre, and then trampled her again before throwing her body around and walking off into the night. The family finished the ceremony after the elephant left; around 100 people are killed by elephants every year in India.
