There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer when it comes to exercise. Everyone’s body is different! According to Independent, there are some guidelines and principles you can follow that will ensure your workout is effective and stay safe.
Personal trainer Tom Mans does advise, “You should train at least three times a week if you want to achieve your health and fitness goals in a reasonable amount of time and stay fit and healthy.” He says that four or five times is ideal, but most people have difficulty finding the time for that. Three times “exposes your body to a large enough training stimulus throughout the week, which enables the body to adapt, get stronger, leaner and fitter,” he explains.
Mans also says that if you want to make real progress, these workouts should be 45 minutes to an hour-long. This should include a 10-minute workout, 30-40 minutes of weight training, and a five-to-10-minute cooling down session with stretching. If you are taking part in conditioning sessions or interval training, half-hour workouts are OK.
