Jet Blue Pilot Pulled From Flight For Allegedly Being Drunk
Authorities say they had to remove an allegedly drunk JetBlue pilot from the cockpit of a plane yesterday. The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority said officials got a tip that 52-year-old James Clifton might be impaired while he went through screening at an airport in Buffalo, New York. Luckily the pilot was able to be removed from the cockpit before the plane took off.
The pilot reportedly had a blood alcohol content of point-17…which is twice times the legal limit for average people. Still, while drivers are considered impaired at point-08, pilots are considered unfit if their blood alcohol level is over .04.
Clifton has since been released from custody. There’s no word on if he’ll face federal charges. Jet Blue says they’re cooperating with authorities. When you enter into an airplane, you should never worry about your safety. There is this assumption that everything will be okay. You should never have to judge the pilots motor skills, or be worried that someone is going to break into the cockpit to take over the plane
There are questions, after a passenger broke into the cockpit of an American Airlines jet.
The incident yesterday happened at an airport in Honduras and damaged the plane as it was boarding for a flight to Miami. The man ran down the jetway and into the cockpit the did some damage. He tried to jump out an open window, but pilots stopped him.
The plane, carrying 121 passengers and six crew had to be replaced due to the damage, so the flight was delayed until the new one got there.
The attacker was arrested.
