MacKenzie Scott Donates $50M To USDA Youth Programs
I love good people! Especially when they’re rich AF! MacKenzie Scott, the billionaire ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has given $50-million to the National 4-H Council.
It will support youth learning and development programs across the country. The donation is the largest single gift the organization has ever received in its 120-year history.
The council’s president and CEO Jennifer Sirangelo was informed that the gift was coming at the end of last year. She was shocked and emotional when she learned just how large the donation would be. In a statement, the council says Scott’s gift will help support “positive youth development” for nearly six million kids. The organization is creating a task force to recommend how to best use the money.
The donation is just the latest announced of the reported $8-billion in donations Scott has given in the last two years. Concerned that people were fixated on the numbers and not the organizations she’s supporting, Scott stopped announcing donations last year. However, the organizations receiving the money have been announcing the gifts. Along with her husband Dan Jewett, Scott has signed the Giving Pledge, publicly declaring her intention to give away the majority of her nearly $50-billion wealth.
All hail MacKenzie Scott!
