Former ‘American Idol’ Star Announces Run For Congress
American Idol alum, Clay Aiken, announced yesterday that he will be running for Congress!
Do you remember Clay Aiken from American Idol? He calls Raleigh, North Carolina home and finished season two of American Idol as runner-up.
He took to Twitter on Monday, January 10th to say that he will be running for North Carolina Congress!

Aiken is a Democrat and will campaign to fill the seat being left behind by Rep. David Price. Rep. David Price announced his retirement in October. If Aiken gets elected he will be the first openly LGBTQ member of Congress from the south.
His campaign website says that he hopes to be a “voice for North Carolina” while ushering in progressive policies and “bringing sanity and civility back to the political conversation.”
