Woman Discovers New Rescue Dog Only Speaks Spanish
Bringing your new dog home can be an adjustment for you both, and one woman thought things weren’t going so well when she brought home Max, the four-year-old Chihuahua she adopted from a shelter. According to Nine.com, Kalee McGee took to TikTok to explain that she assumed Max was ignoring her every time she spoke to him, as he wouldn’t sit or come when she asked.
In a video, Kalee shares that the pup is well-behaved when she takes him on walks, knows how to act on a leash and will sit when she gives him a treat. But anytime she’d give him a command, Max wouldn’t listen. “We’re trying to get him to sit, trying to get him to do this stuff for weeks and we can’t figure out why he won’t listen to us,” she explains. Somehow, she eventually figured out what was going on with Max … he doesn’t understand English.
Kalee doesn’t reveal how she came to this conclusion, but Max only understands Spanish. She says, “Our little chihuahua doesn’t know English and has been looking at us like, ‘What are you talking about?’” The clip shows her giving him commands in English, which he doesn’t respond to, then she tells him to do the same things in Spanish and he immediately obeys. Kalee says she doesn’t speak Spanish, but she’s relying on Google Translate to learn to communicate with her new pet. And luckily for Kalee, users are suggesting phrases and words for her to use with Max.
