My mother-in-laws cancer battle started with breast cancer so it has always been a battle close to my heart, so this makes me smile.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Victoria’s Secret is kicking off some new initiatives for the cause. According to ABC News, VS is debuting their first bra made for women who undergo mastectomies in their fight against breast cancer. The lingerie line is also teaming up with fashion designer Stella McCartney for a PSA on the importance of early detection for breast cancer.
The Body by Victoria Mastectomy Bra features a wire-free design made with soft micro fabric and lace and a pocket inside the inner lining to fit a prosthetic. Throughout October and while supplies last, this bra will be available for an introductory price of $10 and 100% of sales are going to the Victoria’s Secret Global Fund for Women’s Cancers to support breast cancer research.
The company is also collaborating with McCartney for a public service announcement to highlight the risks of breast cancer and the importance of early detection. It includes #CheckYourself reminder and a guide from The Stella Cares Foundation on how to do a breast self-exam effectively. Victoria’s Secret also pledges to invest $5-million a year in cancer research, including racial and gender inequities and finding new ways to improve cancer outcomes for all women.
