Maxi The Tortoise Is Missing For A Year And Didn’t Even Travel A Mile

If you’re going to run away, you might want to be a little faster than a tortoise.
Maxi, who is a tortoise, escaped his enclosure a year ago by apparently scaling a foot-high fence. After a year on the run, the 14-year-old pet was spotted by some dog walkers. They found the owners through Facebook and reunited Maxi with his family.
The total distance the tortoise traveled in a year on the run was six-tenths of a mile. That means he was traveling at 0.00007 miles per hour.
The family thinks maybe Maxi climed out an open window.
