Housesitting Wife Finds MIL Spying On Hidden Cameras
A woman who admits she’s always had a “rocky” relationship with her mother-in-law may never trust her again after a recent discovery. In a post on Reddit’s Just No MIL forum, she explains that she and her husband agreed to house sit for his mom while she was out of town, even though their dog isn’t allowed there. On the last night before the in-laws came home, the woman was tidying up when she found a hidden camera in a cabinet.
She pretended she didn’t see it and continued cleaning up, but then she noticed six nanny cams all over the house, all hidden. So she called her husband and he came to the house, with their dog. “As soon as the dog was in view of one of the cameras, we heard MIL screeching out of a camera to get the dog outside,” the woman explains. She says she feels “dirty” knowing her mother-in-law has been watching them and she doesn’t know how to confront her about it.
Her hubby isn’t much help, he thinks they should let it go because “what’s done is done.” But Redditors offer up some advice and support. Several users point out it’s fine for the MIL to have cameras in her own home, but that it wasn’t okay for her to not tell them they were there. Some suggest she tells the MIL she isn’t comfortable watching the house again since she doesn’t respect them enough to tell them there are cameras. And a few call out how “creepy” and “wrong” it is that she was watching them and advise her to never step foot inside that house again.
