It’s no secret that Matthew McConaughey is seriously considering a future in politics. If he decides to run for governor of Texas, the state’s Democratic leader says they’ll embrace him with open arms.

The way Gilberto Hinojosa sees it; the Oscar winner has a lot going for him. “He’s young, good-looking, smart, and has a little wildness – but this is Texas,” the noted. “We like that stuff.” He thinks McConaughey would have no problem defeating incumbent Republican Governor Gregg Abbott.

Even though Matt has reportedly been making calls to influential political figures in the state to test the waters, Gilberto says he hasn’t reached out to the Dems yet. “It’s absolutely up in the air.”
